Before I start…
So, before I start my journey I thought it might be useful to take stock of myself and determine what I bring to the table.
Skillsets:
The Good:
I have a very strong grasp of direct response marketing concepts and marketing in general.
The Bad:
I am a decent copywriter but slow. It takes me maybe 2 to 3 times as long to write copy as it would “normally” take. That’s subjective of course but it just seems that way to me. I can do it and do it well but the drudgery of it makes the whole process so burdensome and mentally draining.
The Ugly:
I have no formal HTML or computer programming training. What I know at this point is rudimentary at best. Clearly, I have a lot of work to do here.
Motivation:
I am doing this because i believe it’s what I’m suppose to be doing. Not planning to sound metaphysical here but I feel like it was callingto me. Everytime I go online to search or to email, something in my head was saying “I need to be here”
At this point, I don’t have product to sell yet but that isn’t a big concern. The challenge will be in staying organized and not getting bogged down with all the minutiae before deciding to act. Overall, I think I’m in pretty good shape.
My next post, I’ll talk about the steps I’ve taken to get my business of the ground.
One more thing i’d like to share…
Last week, I was in Philly visiting a sister for the birth of her first child and I stayed at her place for about 2 weeks. Taped on the mirror of her bathroom was a quote from either Ghandi or Deepak Chopra and it said (I’m paraphrasing here) “If you truly want to do something but don’t yet have the skills or tools… Fate will conspire to help you find what you need to make it happen.”
I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now it seems more meaningful to me everyday.
